With the pre-production process for Penelope well underway, we're starting to see the addition of cast and crew members, laying the foundation of the film. After the casting of Elisa Colla as Penelope came the challenge of casting the supporting role in the story - Maggie. Maggie is Penelope's confidant, the only person Penelope allows access into her seemingly bizarre and isolated existance in the hills of 1950s Los Angeles. It was important for us to find an actress who, both visually and chemically, had synergy with Elisa as well as the depth and ability bring this important character to life. We have the pleasure of welcoming the talented Nerida Bronwen to do just that.
Nerida worked with Matt on one of his first films, 'Unconditional' playing the lead role in 2009. Since then she has gone on to complete a BA in Theatre Acting, extensive training in the US, various TV commercial roles, US television roles and more recently the lead role in an Australian short film. "I am thrilled to be working with Matt Sharp again", Nerida says. "I'm excited to sink my teeth into an interesting female role, with many layers, and more importantly to explore the relationship portrayed in the film between Maggie and Penelope".
Rehearsals for Penelope begin this week.
